You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Merge dives

An idea coming from Jdivelog : to be able to merge two dives & two profiles ; for example, my last two dives were in fact only one dive but I had to stay longer at the surface at one moment, I would like to avoid to have two dives in that case (not automatic of course, I have to clearly manually merge the dives)

  3. Easier creation of dive sites

I have coordinates and data about several well know dive sites in Portugal and East Timor. It should be easier to create new dive sites even without creating a dive for it.
I suggest a tab under Dive Manager. User could be able to add more data, comments, discussions, tips, photos, etc.
Statistics about the dive site should be a plus as well (number of divers, max depth, average depth, most recent dive, etc.)
Grading (quality, difficulty, minimum certification, etc.) should also be considered.

I agree. Currently adding spots without creating a dive is a bit tricky. Having some form to do that would definitely make sense.

As for adding more comment, we have planned to add some wiki-like area on each country/region/spot. I believe that should fit the need for extra comments and statistics.

  4. Add Weight Remark

Add a weight remark such as: Much More Needed, More Needed, Ok, Too Much, Way Too Much.

  5. Provide Larger Map for Editing Dive

Great idea to include a map to document the dive site. When viewing a dive entry, the map is a reasonably large view so you can see detail and surrounding areas.
However, when creating or editing a dive entry, the available map is tiny and cramped and very difficult to navigate around.
A larger map in the create/edit view would be good. Even better would be a button / link to popup the map as a big window or even full screen. That would feel a lot more comfortable than working through a keyhole.
Also the ability to interface with…

  6. Add a "share statistics" for logbook homepage

We might also like to *share statistics* such as: number of dives /
night dives / ice dives / wreck dives / cave dives / drift dives /
deep dives / clean up dives...

  10. Create Space for Group Photos Contributors

My last few dives have been with a bunch of people, many of whom we didn't know, many of whom had cameras. We promised to send or upload the photos somewhere so we could share them and pool our photos of the dives. Very difficult to coordinate as the number of people increases and you have to somehow collect everyone's email addresses etc etc.
It would be great if we could create a shared dive album here for that specific dive (or group of dives = trip) where all those who participated could upload their own photo sets and contribute…

  11. More fields for species!

Specifically for phase and common names...

For example, the differences between a juvenile, intermediate and adult phase Equetus punctatus are extreme in both shape and patterning, to the point where they can be misidentified as other species.

In addition, it would be nice to be able to note when juveniles are starting to re-appear thanks to conservation efforts, when spotting an adult might not be a big deal. (Or vice versa.)

As far as common names go, several of the common names are completely different from the Humann / Deloach books, which can make it difficult to find fish as…

  13. Internationalize the website

For non-english speaking divers, local versions would be appreciated.
Requested from users speaking French, Italian, Russian

  14. Reprocess profile data

Sometimes, the profile displays with either too many warnings (like "too fast" notices) ... or none . It would be good to define a safety model and reprocess those curves in an homogeneous way.

  15. Gear: Service log

It would be neat with a kind of service log to keep track of the compleete service history of gear.

  16. Mark Gear as Old

Please have an option to mark each gear item as old / sold, and don't have it listed on the dive log entry screen. This will unclutter the dive log screen while still allowing these old items to be used on old dives.

  17. Use checkboxes for dive equipment used versus ADD / X

Having to hit ADD / X and moving the items into used/not used areas is a little cumbersome...just list all the divers gear w/ checkboxes next to them. Checked = used, unchecked = not used

  18. map the community

Hi, have just joined Diveboard and find it a great idea. Came upon it when reading some web magazine, DIVE I think it was, and was thinking of writing to Sweden's leading dive magazine, DYK, to suggest they write something about you. But I don't even know how many Swedes are already members! Maybe it is a big thing in Sweden, but I doubt it as almost no dives have been recorded from that country. So my idea is that you could give us a snapshot of the community, maybe in the blog or as a permanent feature something like…

    Hi Pedro,

    thanks for your interest :)
Unfortunately getting this data is not so easy.. as we do not ask any personal info from our divers – some may specify their country of origin but they are certainly not obliged to do so.

What I can tell you though is that out of the 3000 divers currently registered, 18 have declared Sweden as their origin country
those 18 have logged 527 dives

220 dives have been logged in sweden
http://www.diveboard.com/wooflock wins with 210 dives logged (although he did not make any dive public)
second is http://www.diveboard.com/anders.holmberg .. again all 99 dives are private

http://www.diveboard.com/falkens is third with 48 dives – most public this time :)

I’ll try and make a hall of fame page with stats – this sounds like a good idea indeed :) In the meantime I hope this will be enough !

    Alex

  20. option to enter snorkelling data

I will probably chalk up 10x as many snorkelling hours per year as I will diving - a tickbox on the manual log entry to simplify the data input fields to those suitable for snorkelling would be great
